Unemployment in CR increased to 2.9 %

The unemployment rate increased by 0.9 pp y/y in October.

The general unemployment rate of the 15 to 64 age group adjusted for seasonal effects reached 2.9 % in October 2020, growing 0.9 pp y/y. Employment reached 74 % (-1.2 pp). The employment rate of the 15 to 29 age group reached 45.6 %, that of the 30 to 49 age group reached 86.4 % and in the 50 to 64 age group it fell 0.5 pp to 76.2 %. The director of the labor market and equal opportunities statistics department, Dalibor Holý, stated that the average number of hours worked by entrepreneurs decreased by 11% due to the pandemic. In the case of employees it fell by 6 %, The number of workers fell by more than 70,000 y/y with women accounting for three quarters of this total.
