Nuclear power will be the major basis of the domestic energy sector in the
future. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic has therefore launched a tender for the completion of one nuclear reactor at Dukovany power plant.
At
the same time, the construction of other units is in the pipeline. Petr
Třešňák, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, said that the State
Energy Strategy, which was approved by the government, envisages a share of nuclear power in electricity generation between 48% and
56%. Two years ago, in 2021, the share of nuclear power generation was 36%. He added that the government will also
prepare a concept for the development of small and medium-sized
modular reactors. These will complement large units.
