Brno-based software developer Kentico has raised CZK 1.5bn from
Expedition Growth Capital. Roughly CZK 1bn will go to the newly spun-off
company Kontent.ai, the rest may go to Kentico within a year.
Kontent.ai plans to use the investment to strengthen its teams, with
staff numbers rising to 220 from 120. It plans to recruit product
specialists from among developers and designers in the Czech Republic.
It will strengthen sales and marketing in New York, Amsterdam, and
London. Kentico plans to hire more than 60 people and increase
investment in development and product innovation, including in its new
cloud platform Xperience. It plans to use the promised investment to
grow in the US and Western European markets over the next 12 months.
Kontent.ai was created as an internal startup, the independence
associated with the billion-dollar investment follows the previous split
of Kentico into two product divisions. Kentico will be led by Dominik
Pintér and Kontent.ai by Bart Omlo. Current CEO and founder Petr Palas
will serve as Chairman of the Board of both companies. (Source: www.cianews.cz/en)
