Plzeňský Prazdroj has been running a program for the support of
rural pubs called Vesnice for six years. It has already invested
almost CZK 28m in it, the most in 2022, over CZK 9m. Any local pub
that buys beer from Prazdroj and is situated in a village with
a population of up to 5,000 inhabitants can be part of the project.
A total of a thousand pubs have already joined, which is more than
13 % of all village pubs in the Czech Republic. Data from Prazdroj
show that their number has decreased by 15 % over the past four
years. This is half more than the decline of establishments in cities
with over 100,000 inhabitants. In 2022 alone, over 250 rural
hospitality establishments closed. The reason was both the
pandemic and the rise in prices of practically all inputs. (Source: ČIA News, www.cianews.cz/en)
