Within the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade’s TREND 15
programme, the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TA) has
supported the development of a construction material with a unique
property of autonomously controlled warming. Brno University of
Technology’s (VUT) Faculty of Civil Engineering and BETOSAN are
collaborating on the project. The newly developed composites
provide the material with new properties. They are created on
a silicate basis using advanced high-tech fillers. The innovative
aspect of the solution will primarily lie in using waste as electrically
conductive fillers. The whole system will be completed in 2024. It
will be deployable in the winter months to improve safety on the
motorway and road bridges, public transportation stops, railway
stations, runways, etc. The smart monitoring and heating of areas
made of these materials will be controlled via a 5G network data
connection technology. (Source: ČIA News, www.cianews.cz/en)
