Czech Technical University has created a Smart Driving Solutions research centre that will focus on active dynamic vehicle steering technology.

A Smart Driving Solutions research centre has been created at the Department of Control Engineering of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Czech Technical University (FEL ČVUT) in Prague. An international team of researchers aims to lay the groundwork for active dynamic vehicle steering technology (drive by wire), a version of which has been used for some time in aircraft. As part of the concept the drivers does not control the wheels or engine of the vehicle directly but using an electronic steering unit that has full control of the chassis. The budget for 2019 counts on an allocation of CZK 8.5m. The center plans to enter into commercial partnerships in the areas of automobile and aviation industries and to strive for grant support from public funds in the Czech Republic and the EU.
