ŠKODA AUTO’s plant in Kvasiny manufactured the first car ŠKODA SUPERB iV with a plug-in hybrid engine on September 18, 2019. The automaker invested approximately EUR 12m in the preparation of the production of the first electrified series model in the history of the brand. The new plug-in hybrid model is produced only in Kvasiny at the same line as the ŠKODA SUPERB with combustion engines. The ŠKODA SUPERB iV will likely be introduced on the market at the beginning of 2020.
Separately, the number of registrations of new cars branded ŠKODA in the European Union increased 5.7% y/y to 55,377 in August 2019. In a period from January to August, the registrations increased 1.4% to
503,947 units. Carmaker’s market share increased from 4.6% to 5.3% in August. This stems from statistics published by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).
