Czech company Allwyn Entertainment, part of a conglomerate owned by Czech billionaire businessman Karel Komárek, has been made the official operator of the UK National Lottery.

The Gambling Commission made the decision on Tuesday. They had already chosen Allwyn to be the operator of the licence back in the spring; however, the company Camelot, which has been operating the lottery until now, appealed against the decision.

Allwyn won, among other things, by promising to raise significantly more for charity than Camelot and to invest heavily in new digital products.
