With the gradual easing of the government restrictions, the Czech economy is getting back on its feet as customers are increasing their spending.

While in some badly hit sectors, such as hospitality, the sales are still below the pre-pandemic numbers, most firms in retail are reporting significant increases in sales. The sales are growing based on both pre-pandemic situation, as well as last year’s numbers. The impressively speedy comeback is also reported by banks, based on the card transaction volumes data.

The situation in the country has been improving over the last month and most restrictions have been gradually eased or lifted. Majority of retailers, with the exception of shopping centres, can now remain open along with car dealerships, farmers markets, smaller outdoor venues and sport facilities. Bars, restaurants, cinemas and theatres are also allowed to open if they adhere to social distancing measures.
