Czech investment in R&D hits record high

In 2018, Czech Republic spent a record EUR 3.9bn on R&D, which has contributed to making it the most competitive economy in Central Europe.

According to the latest statistics, the country's R&D expenditures grew by EUR 447.5mn y/y and in relation to GDP, they increased to 1.93%.

At the end of 2018, 113 500 people were employed, both as part-time or full-time, in R&D sector, the figure increased by approximately 20 000 ovr the past five years.
