ČSÚ: Foreign trade ended with CZK 23.3bn deficit

The balance of foreign trade in goods at current prices ended with a deficit of CZK 23.3bn in May 2022 (y/y - CZK 26.4 billion), the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) said, adding that it was worsened by a larger deficit in trade in oil and natural gas.

The balance of foreign trade with EU countries improved by CZK 17.6bn in May 2022. The trade deficit with non-EU countries widened by CZK 43.5bn. Year-onyear, exporters exported a total of CZK 334.4bn worth of goods (+18.1%). Imports rose by 26.3% to CZK 413.6bn.

In 5M 2022, the trade balance showed a deficit of CZK 60.1bn. In the same period of 2021, it ended with a surplus of CZK 85.0bn.
