Czech government takes steps toward building new nuclear plant

The Czech government approved agreements with majority state-owned electricity producer CEZ setting out the framework for building a new nuclear power block to come online in 2036. The government wants to propose a financing model by the end of May, before the country begins its talks with the European Commission over the project. Potential builders are South Korea’s KHNP, France’s EDF, U.S. group Westinghouse, and Russia’s Rosatom.
