The Czech Republic supported common rules for digital services in the internal market at the EU Competitiveness Council, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MPO) said, adding that this is an important step towards further harmonisation of the EU digital market and setting fairer rules.

The Czech Republic, in cooperation with other countries, has ensured that the country of origin principle is maintained. The principle allows companies established in one member state to provide services anywhere else in the EU without having to comply with additional obligations set out in another member state or to establish themselves there.
