US technology firm F5 Networks has bought Volterra. It will pay USD 440m in cash; an additional USD 60m will follow in bonuses based on the performance of set targets. Volterra renders a SaaS platform for the operation of distributed applications across cloud providers and edge computing, including IoT devices in industrial buildings, railway stations, or restaurants. The transaction is to be closed in Q1 2021. Following its completion, a 20-member team of developers will continue working in Prague. All members have the company’s employee shares.
