Lowest unemployment since 1996

November 2019 set a new record for the lowest unemployment since 1996 as the number of citizens registered at the Labour Office was 197,289. The overall percentage of unemployed Czechs remained the same as in October, 2.6%. Employers offered almost 339,000 job openings, which is a thousand more than in the preceding month. Levels of unemployment are estimated to be influenced by the favourable state of the economy and seasonal changes as most of recently laid-off employees in the registry come from the fields of agriculture and construction.
