The Czech Technical University in Prague, The Charles University and The Academy of Science are jointly working on a new initiative called prg.ai. This new project is aiming to support top researchers and developers, attract the world’s best talents, help establish new companies and start-ups, but most importantly, build a brand new centre for the Artificial Intelligence of a European importance in the Czech capital. Initiative is supported by The Prague Municipality, Czech government and various private companies. Potential of Czech Republic in this area is significant, since right now universities in Prague alone provide more than 100 AI graduates every year, which is more than worldwide AI centre, Montreal. Moreover, these numbers are expected to grow in decades to come. Prg.ai will also prepare new bachelor programme, so called prg.ai Minor, which could hopefully influence high school’s curriculums and motivate teachers of math and informatics. ‘Our main vision is to attract the best professionals from abroad and increase an interest to work in Prague’s AI ecosystem,’ says Michal Pechoucek of The Czech Technical University, also one of the founders of the prg.ai. ‘Very important to us is also a brand of Prague, as a well-known cosmopolitan and tech city, that is attractive to many foreign specialists, investors and entrepreneurs,’ adds Pechoucek.
