Consumer prices grew by 6.6% year on year in December 2021,
which was 0.6 pp more than in November. In month-on-month terms,
they were 0.4% higher. The average inflation rate for 2021 was 3.8%.
This was 0.6 pp more than in 2020 and was the highest rate since
2008. Last year, prices of goods overall grew by 3.5%, while prices
of services were 4.4% higher. According to quick estimates by
Eurostat, the year-on-year change in the harmonised index of
consumer prices in the EU27 was 5.2% in December.
