The unemployment rate in the EU fell to 5.9% in August, the lowest is in the Czech Republic
According to seasonally adjusted data, the unemployment rate in the European Union fell by a tenth of a percentage point to 5.9 percent in August, while in the Eurozone it remained at the July value of 6.4 percent. The statistical office Eurostat stated this in its report today. According to this data, unemployment in the Czech Republic fell to 2.6 percent and remains the lowest in the EU.
In August, the unemployment rate was 5.3 percent in Slovakia, 4.3 percent in Hungary and 2.9 percent in Poland.
Eurostat estimates that 13.027 million people were out of work in the EU as a whole in August, of which 10.925 million were in the euro area. Compared to July, the number of people without work decreased by 108,000 in the EU and by 94,000 in the eurozone, compared to last August by 142,000 in the EU and by 233,000 in the eurozone.
