Škoda has unveiled its next generation SUV Kodiaq, which will be potentially available also in Egyptian market during next year 2024.

At its world premiere in Berlin on Wednesday evening, the car manufacturer presented the new car’s design and technological enhancements in a never-used subway tunnel under Potsdam Square.

The second generation Kodiaq, competitor to the Japanese Honda CR-V and the South Korean Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia EV6, has a different interior from the first generation made seven years ago. As well as more inside space, it also features second-gen TOP LED Matrix headlights and a plug-in hybrid drive with a range of up to 100 kilometres purely on electricity.

The first customers will get their cars at the end of March 2024, starting with the Czech and German markets. Sales will then begin in Poland, the UK and France. It will only reach key markets outside Europe, such as India and Vietnam, in the second half of next year.

Just like the first generation, the new Kodiaq will be manufactured in Kvasiny in East Bohemia, where the car company invested 12 million euros in modifications to the production line, with a resulting production capacity of 410 cars per day.

Škoda began production of Kodiaq, its largest SUV at 4.7 metres long, in October 2016. The model is named after a type of bear which inhabits the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in southwest Alaska. In 2017, the model won the Car of the Year award in Czechia, Poland and Bulgaria, SUV of the year in China and France, and four-wheel drive car of the year in Germany. So far, over 841,000 Kodiaqs have been sold in 60 countries.
