Import prices fall by 8%, mineral fuels decrease by 33%

Export prices in the Czech Republic fell by 2.6% y/y in May 2023.

The biggest impact was a 5.5% decrease in prices of semi-finished goods (mainly iron and steel and metal products). Prices of other raw materials fell the most by 25.8% (mainly scrap metal and oilseeds) and chemicals by 9.8% (mainly plastics and organic chemicals). Beverages prices increased the most by 17.6%. The data was published by the Czech Statistical Office. Import prices decreased by 8.0%. The biggest impact was a significant drop of 32.6% in prices of mineral fuels, i.e. mainly oil and petroleum products, gas, and electricity.
