Why wait at the charging station when you can just swap-in a fully charged battery

Since June 2023, Bevy.city has been testing the first two vehicles with quickly swappable batteries in the normal operation of its delivery service in Prague and its vicinity. The Czech start-up BattSwap's automated swapping station can replace an empty battery of a specially adapted e-vehicle with a new one in less than three minutes. The logistics company operates a fleet of over 80 e- vehicles in the Czech Republic and Germany. The test operation uses a swapping station located at its depot and Nextem's vehicles. According to founder Ladislav Janckulík, thanks to smaller batteries, the price of an e-vehicle decreases, and the batteries can be charged independently of the vehicle and at a different location. It is possible to use electricity surpluses in the grid with a lower tariff.
