The Standing Committee on the Construction of New Nuclear Power Sources in the Czech Republic has recommended to the government or consideration an action plan for the development of small and medium-sized reactors prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and a working group of the committee. The Committee also discussed the current status of the preparation of the new nuclear power plant at Dukovany and steps to prepare other plants. Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela said that the Czech and European energy sector faces major challenges due to Russian aggression and decarbonisation. The Ministry is therefore preparing an update of the State Energy Concept, which will take into account nuclear and renewable sources.
