Tatra Trucks, a Kopřivnice-based automotive company, is investing CZK 700 million in production technologies to help it streamline production processes and increase production volume.

The company has already installed a part of the machinery last year and another part of the investment will be made this year. Last year, Tatra produced and sold 1,451 vehicles, down from more than 100 a year earlier. Its goal is to produce up to 2,500 vehicles per year within a few years.

"The increase in production volume to the announced 2,500 vehicles per year is conditional on modernisation and automation of production. We want to achieve this by investing a total of 700 million crowns in state-of-the-art machinery," said Tatra's technical director Tomáš Prášil.

According to him, the automobile company plans to strengthen the capacity of the so-called bottlenecks in the production process and automate places with large time losses in production so as to reach the world level of machining.
