Aviation industry

The Czech Republic has a long aviation tradition and has always had a strong presence in the aerospace sector. Over the years the country has made a name for itself based on outstanding quality, reliability and innovation in the industry.

The aviation industry in the Czech Republic has also built a respected position in the international field and celebrates its successes across various categories. From basic production to final aircraft assembly and cutting-edge research and development programmes, the aviation industry focuses mainly on three main segments.

The first one is the production of complete aircrafts, including smaller aircrafts for local and regional transport, training and light combat aircrafts, sport and agriculture aircrafts, ultralight aircrafts and gliders. AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE, ZLIN AERO, Primoco UAV, AIR OPERATION TECHNOLOGIES (Skyleader), Evektor-Aerotechnik and Aircraft Industries are among the main producers in this category.

The Czech Republic is a world-class producer of ultralight aircrafts and aerospace components worldwide and is among nine countries that are able to produce an aircraft completely in their own territory. Moreover, The Czech Republic is in an elite club of only seven countries in the world that can develop and manufacture aircraft engines (PBS Velká Bíteš, GE Aviation Czech).

The second segment is the production of components for large transport and military aircrafts and helicopters.

Czech companies also supply their compounds to global aircraft producers, such as Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Bombardier and the helicopter producer Sikorsky. Other subcontracts lead to producers of military aircrafts, CASA and Eurofighter.

Czech companies also rank among the world leaders in aircraft safety systems – i. e. STRATOS 07 and GALAXY Holding.
The third segment is pilot training, in which the Czech Republic ranks among the world leaders and is capable of providing both basic and advanced pilot training on aircraft and simulators of its own production.
