Czech President’s visit to Latvia and Lithuania boosts business cooperation

In March 2026, Czech President Petr Pavel visited Latvia and Lithuania, with a strong focus not only on political ties but also on strengthening business cooperation and economic relations across the Baltic region.

A key part of the program in both countries was dedicated to business. In Latvia, President Pavel and Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs opened the Latvian–Czech Business Forum, bringing together companies, business organisations, and institutions from both sides.

A similar business forum was also held in Lithuania, where Czech companies had the opportunity to connect with Lithuanian partners, explore new opportunities, and discuss potential cooperation. These events created a practical platform for networking, sharing experience, and developing new partnerships.

Focus on key sectors

Discussions during the visit highlighted several sectors with strong potential for future cooperation:

  • transport and logistics
  • defence and security industries
  • biotechnology
  • innovation and new technologies

Czech companies are already active in some of these areas in the Baltic states, and the visit helped to further strengthen their position and open doors to new projects.

Strong business delegation

The President was accompanied by a business delegation, which added a concrete, hands-on dimension to the visit. Direct meetings between companies allowed for more detailed discussions on specific projects and cooperation opportunities.

Such high-level visits play an important role in supporting companies abroad - helping them build contacts, increase visibility, and accelerate business negotiations.

Growing opportunities in the Baltic region

Latvia and Lithuania are increasingly attractive partners for Czech businesses. Both countries offer a dynamic business environment, strong innovation potential, and strategic access to Northern European markets.

At the same time, Czech companies bring expertise in areas such as transport, defence technologies, and biotechnology, creating a natural basis for mutually beneficial cooperation.

The business part of the mission was organized on the Czech side by the Czech embassies in Lithuania and Latvia, the office of CzechTrade Baltics, and the Czech Chamber of Commerce.
