Czech 3D printing company Prusa Research will start manufacturing its printers and materials in the US through its subsidiary, Printed Solid, acquired two years ago. "Our goal is to become the largest manufacturer of 3D printers and filaments in the US within a year," said founder Josef Průša.
The company will produce Prusament materials in selected colors, with plans for expansion. Printed Solid will use the same processes and tools as in Prague, where nearly a thousand people work.
The Delaware facility employs around thirty people, with plans to hire more and expand production lines. "Local manufacturing is essential for long-term sustainability and security," added Průša.
Founded in 2012, Prusa Research is now one of the world's largest desktop 3D printer manufacturers, with a 2022 turnover of 2.6 billion CZK and a profit of 269 million CZK.
