Czech Gaming Industry Gains Momentum with Prague’s New Accelerator Program

Prague's gaming accelerator is designed to support the fast-growing Czech video game industry, which generates more than USD 270 million annually and continues to expand at a double-digit pace. The program aims to help young developers transform their ideas into market-ready games and strengthen the Czech Republic’s position on the global gaming scene.

Within the accelerator, student teams receive mentoring from industry professionals, financial backing, and access to a network of experts. Many participants come from the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), whose “Computer Games” course combines programming with design and storytelling. Of the ten teams selected by a professional jury, five came directly from CTU.

Among the chosen projects are Arcane Isle Survival, W.A.R.D., Sweep to the Past, Recollect, and Head Heist. “It’s an amazing opportunity to take our project to completion and gain invaluable experience,” said Lukáš Jůza, co-creator of Arcane Isle Survival, describing the game as a survival RPG with a unique card-based system set on procedurally generated islands.

The initiative is led by the Prague Innovation Institute in partnership with the City of Prague. “The accelerator is unique in combining technical skills with mentoring, legal support, and business development,” said Katarzyna Kouba Sanojca from the Institute. “We want students to leave not only with a playable game but with a clear plan for success in the global market.”

The program runs annually, with the first cycle taking place from August to November 2025, and is expected to further energize an industry that has already produced international successes such as Beat Saber, Arma, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
