Vietnam’s Hai Phong promotes bilateral cooperation with Czech businesses

Hai Phong City is promoting trade and investment with the Czech Republic, leveraging its strategic advantages and the Vietnamese business community in Europe to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.

On November 30, 2025, a “Hai Phong Trade and Investment Cooperation Conference 2025” took place at the Vietnamese Embassy in Prague. The event, led by Le Tien Chau - Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee - brought together city officials, Vietnamese firms, and Czech entrepreneurs with Vietnamese roots.

Duong Hoai Nam, Ambassador of Vietnam to the Czech Republic, highlighted the recent upgrade of Vietnam-Czech relations to a “Strategic Partnership,” seeing this as a foundation for expanded cooperation in trade, investment, and business. The Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic - around 100,000 people, many of them entrepreneurs - was recognized as a dynamic force for business cooperation.

During the conference, Le Tien Chau introduced Hai Phong’s vision to become a Northern Vietnam hub for industry, logistics, and international services, leveraging its deep-water ports, advanced transport systems, and plentiful industrial land. The city is actively seeking Czech investment in sectors like manufacturing, high-tech, clean energy, precision engineering, and pharmaceuticals.

At the closing, Le Tien Chau praised Vietnamese abroad as “people’s ambassadors,” expressing confidence that the overseas community will help bridge Hai Phong and Vietnam with the Czech Republic.
