Studio Crystal Creative was founded in 2018 by glass artist MgA. Filip Dobias and master glass
cutter David Gábera. Their collaboration began long before, during Filip’s studies at UMPRUM
in Prague, where he studied in the Glass Studio under the guidance of Prof. Rony Plesl,
academic sculptor.

All their artistic production takes place in a small workshop in the east of the Czech Republic, in
the picturesque landscape of Wallachia, which was once one of the renowned centers of Czech
glassmaking. They continue the long tradition of cut glass and, within the field of glassmaking,
create unique works that merge traditional craftsmanship with a modern artistic expression.
Their work is a constant struggle with material, matter, and thought. It is influenced by the effort
to understand the long sequences of art history as well as human existence. It is about searching
for harmony, ideal proportion, detail, beauty, and even ugliness. Timelessness, the fragility of
relationships and of glass itself, depth (of mind, sea, universe), unattainability, consciousness and
unconsciousness – these are only some of the themes that inspire them in their creative work.
