From January, the Czech minimum wage will rise to CZK 22,400, impacting low-income workers and aligning with 43.4% of the average wage.
Starting in January, the minimum wage in the Czech Republic will see a notable increase, rising by CZK 1,600 to CZK 22,400 gross per month. Labour Minister Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL) confirmed the new level, which was calculated by the Ministry of Finance and announced on Czech Television (ČT). Alongside this, the lowest collectively agreed salaries in the public sector will also grow, by nearly eight percent.
The change will particularly affect groups that typically earn at or near the minimum wage, such as unskilled workers and cleaners, many of whom currently struggle to cover basic living costs on the existing CZK 20,800 gross per month (Prague Daily).
The amount is based on a regulation approved by the government last autumn, according to which the minimum wage should reach 43.4 percent of the average wage next year. (Radio Prague International).
In the Q1 2025, the average gross monthly nominal wage per full-time equivalent (FTE) employee in the national economy increased by 6.7% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. In real terms, it increased by 3.9%. The median wage was CZK 38 385 (Czech Statistical Office).
