Brazil
The Czech company Advanced Medical Solutions has delivered two diagnostic devices to Brazil as part of a Czech development cooperation project.
The Vlab 4000 devices from the manufacturer AMS were acquired by the Institute of Cardiovascular Health and the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Fortaleza in the state of Ceará. This northeastern state is one of the regions with the highest incidence of diabetes in the country. The Vlab-4000 device enables non-invasive diagnostics, screening and monitoring of the vascular system based on measuring changes in blood flow in the limbs.
The Brazilian Diabetes Society warns that up to a third of people with diabetes are unaware of their disease because symptoms may appear late. In addition to the fact that cardiovascular diseases are one of the main causes of premature death, seriously ill people are often excluded from the labor market and thus represent a long-term burden on the social system. For this reason, better access to treatment, as well as preventive strategies and early diagnosis, are coming to the forefront across the political spectrum as highly topical topics.
