Czech Republic will form a three-party coalition government
On 29 October local time, Andrej Babiš, chairman of the winning party in the Czech parliamentary election, the 'Action of Dissatisfied Citizens', stated that he would sign a coalition agreement with the 'Drivers for Themselves' party and the Free and Direct Democracy party to form a three-party coalition government. In a video posted on social media, Babiš said that the three parties had reached a coalition agreement and agreed to sign it on 3 November, the day of the first session of the new Chamber of Deputies. Babiš expects to complete the formation of the cabinet by mid-December. The results of the Czech parliamentary election were announced on 4 October. The opposition 'Action of Dissatisfied Citizens' led by former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš won nearly 35% of the vote, making Babiš likely to become Prime Minister again. Official results show that the 'Action of Dissatisfied Citizens' won 80 seats in the Chamber of Deputies. The Czech Chamber of Deputies has 200 seats. According to Czech law, since the 'Action of Dissatisfied Citizens' did not win a majority, it cannot govern alone and will form a cabinet in coalition with other parties or party alliances.
