Automakers in the Czech Republic produced 774,310 cars, a year-on-year increase of 4.9 percent.
The production of trucks and motorcycles was also higher, while the production of buses fell. The share of electric vehicles was eight per cent. This was announced by the Society of the Automotive Industry (SAP).
Škoda Auto, the largest domestic carmaker, produced 473,582 passenger cars from January to June, up two percent year-on-year. At Hyundai's Nosovice plant, production fell 0.6 percent to 175,950 vehicles. Toyota's Aygo plant recorded a 28.6 percent increase in production to 124,778 cars. But the association pointed out that Toyota's result last year was affected by production shutdowns, which were caused by a shortage of components for production.
Despite the challenging outlook for the European automotive industry and challenges linked to electrification, the Czech auto sector seems to prosper and remains the backbone of the Czech economy.
