Czech Automotive Industry Achieves Record Production Despite European Market Headwinds

The Czech automotive sector demonstrated remarkable resilience in 2024, achieving record production of nearly 1.45 million passenger cars despite challenging market conditions across Europe, with electric vehicle manufacturing emerging as a key growth driver for the industry.

According to the latest figures from the Automotive Industry Association (AutoSAP), the Czech automotive industry recorded its highest-ever production levels with a 3.9% increase compared to 2023, alongside a turnover approaching CZK 1.6 trillion. This performance came despite weakening markets in Germany and other European countries, market uncertainties, and structural challenges including high energy prices and increasing regulation.

The sector's transition toward electrification continues to accelerate, with Czech manufacturers producing 64,956 electric vehicles in Q1 2025 alone, representing a 141% surge compared to the previous year. Škoda Auto, the country's largest automaker, achieved remarkable 282% growth in its electric vehicle segment, producing 48,442 units including both battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.

The Czech Republic has also emerged as the second-highest growth market for electric vehicle sales in the EU during the first half of 2025, with registrations rising by 67%.
