Production returns to pre-covid levels.
Sales of domestic automakers and parts suppliers rose by 17.7 percent to CZK 1.478 trillion last year. Exports increased by 23 percent to CZK 1.266 trillion. This was announced on Thursday by representatives of the Automotive Industry Association.
Revenues of final manufacturers increased 23.4 percent to 908 billion crowns. Parts suppliers earned 543 billion, up 10.4 percent year-on-year.
Car production returned to pre-covid levels, rising 14.8 per cent year-on-year to 1.398 million passenger cars. The number of electric vehicles produced rose by 34 per cent to 181,000.
The automotive industry is the most important sector of the Czech Republic's manufacturing industry, accounting for almost ten per cent of its GDP. It employs around 180 000 people directly and almost 500 000 indirectly, including downstream industries.
