The Czech Republic's new National Semiconductor Strategy seeks to establish the country as a major player in chip production by leveraging its industry strengths, increasing educational capacities, and tripling the semiconductor sector by 2029.
The Czech
Republic has great potential to become a major player in the field of chip
production. The new National Semiconductor Strategy, prepared by the Czech
Ministry of Industry and Trade in cooperation with experts, aims to take
advantage of this opportunity.
New National Semiconductor Strategy should help the Czech Republic to become
one of the European centres of chip production. The strategy maps the areas
where the Czech industry has the most significant potential and proposes
supporting measures, including investment.
The document defines specific objectives and dozens of corresponding measures
to achieve this goal, such as increasing the capacity of selected fields of
study at universities, establishing a competence centre or increasing semiconductor
production capacity.
This strategy builds on the European Chip Act and was developed under the
leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in close cooperation with the
Office of the Minister for Science, Research and Innovation. Research and innovation
is one of the five strategic areas the strategy aims to develop. The plan also intends
to increase the number of professionals in the sector to 9,000 and to triple
the size of the semiconductor sector in the Czech Republic by the end of 2029.
