In the first three quarters of 2024, the Czech Republic saw the establishment of 10 375 companies, marking a 9% increase compared to the previous year

In the first nine months of 2024, 22 556 new companies have been established in the Czech Republic. With a surplus of 10 375 new companies, this is a 9% increase compared to the last year but a little decrease compared to 2021, according to an analysis of data conducted by CRIF - Czech Credit Bureau.

„The number of companies is constantly increasing, and there are currently more than 590 000 of them in the Czech market. In terms of the number of start-ups, we have now started to reach pre-pandemic numbers,“ says Věra Kameníčková, an analyst at CRIF - Czech Credit Bureau. So far this year, 19 new companies were set up for every 10 dissolved companies, the same as in 2019.

Traditionally, the most significant number of companies was established in Prague (11 524), followed by the South Moravian Region (2 655) and the Moravian-Silesian Region (1 648). The largest number of companies also disappeared in Prague (6 758), in the South Moravian Region (1 201), and in the Moravian-Silesian Region (1 648). The Vysočina Region continues to stand out with the highest ratio of established companies per disappeared, thus Vysočina Region is increasing the number of companies at the fastest rate of all regions.

The most significant number of firms were established in the trade sector (2 583), real estate (2 477) and manufacturing (2 290). The largest number of firm closures this year to the end of September were in the trade (3 662), real estate (2 452) and professional, scientific and technical activities (1 471) sectors.

The fastest growth was in the electricity, gas and heat production and distribution sector, where 77 new companies were established for every 10 that were dissolved. Companies in the other sectors, which include repairing personal products or providing personal services such as hairdressing, cosmetics and laundry and textile cleaning, also grew rapidly, with 74 new companies for every ten that disappeared
