Smart cities in the Czech Republic

Brno hosts a key trade fair on the topic of Smart Cities.

URBIS The Smart Cities Meetup. This is the name of the most important Central European events for smart cities solutions, which takes place this June in Brno. The topic of Smart Cities is an increasingly important part of the development of Czech cities, municipalities and regions.

This year, the URBIS The Smart Cities Meetup fair and accompanying events are prepared by Brno Trade Fairs and Exhibitions (BVV) in cooperation with four ministries and about ten other institutions, including the CzechTrade agency.

A key part of the conference part of URBIS The Smart Cities Meetup will be a discussion on current topics in the field of smart cities with an emphasis on examples from practice. The main topics are energy and climate, mobility and efficient public administration. Dozens of companies and entities offering advanced solutions for smart cities will be exhibiting at the fair.

According to the organisers, international examples clearly show that the successful development of smart cities and the implementation of innovations into practice can only happen with strong mutual cooperation between actors across sectors and levels. "However, such cooperation does not arise on its own. It evolves from regular meetings, sharing of experiences and mutual learning," say the organisers.
