At the top of the ranking are the Italian carrier Trenitalia and the Swiss company SBB.
This is claimed by the organization Transport and Environment, which released a comparison of the largest railway companies in Europe. Czech Railways is ranked sixth in the list. According to the organization, the worst carrier in Europe is Eurostar, which operates, among other routes, services between Paris and London.
Regiojet is also the highest-rated private carrier, as Trenitalia and SBB are state-owned. The company achieved its best results in the categories of fare price and passenger comfort. Its worst rating was in the category of bicycle transport, which, however, only constitutes five percent of the overall evaluation.
The overall rating by the organization was created based on eight indicators. The most significant weight was given to fare price, which accounted for 25 percent of the total rating, followed by discount programs and punctuality of services, which each accounted for 15 percent of the total rating. The ranking was also influenced by the experience of purchasing tickets, passenger comfort, the development of night services, and the compensation system in case of delays or cancellations.
