The financial situation of Czech households has been improving for the third year.

According to a survey, fewer people feel the need to limit their spending.

This year, 32 percent of Czechs consider it financially successful, compared to 25 percent in 2022. One-fifth had to limit their spending this year, down from a quarter last year. Fewer people are cutting back on regular expenses and spending on entertainment, sports, and vacations, according to a December survey by Provident Financial among over a thousand respondents.

Fifty percent of respondents expect the same or better financial situation next year, which is ten percentage points higher than last year. Energy expenses and summer vacations, including children's activities, took the most money from the family budgets of Czech households this year.

Nearly 12 percent of people stated that this year was particularly financially successful for them. They invested surplus finances, which is five points higher than last year and seven points higher compared to 2022.

Summer vacations, renovations, and household furnishing, as well as utility bills, are the events that most strain the family budgets of Czech households. Energy payments concern older generations much more, with up to 54 percent of people aged 54 to 65 worried about these expenses. For Czechs aged 18 to 26 and also those aged 45 to 53, summer vacations are the biggest expense.

Half of Czechs expect to fare better or the same in 2025, which represents an increase of ten points from last year and 18 points compared to 2022. Fewer people are worried about their financial situation for the next year.
