Also Food Price Hikes Expected
In June 2025, Czech industrial producer prices dropped year-on-year for the fifth consecutive month, down by 0.7%. However, prices in other sectors rose: agricultural prices increased by 13.4%, construction work by 2.9%, and business services by 4.2%, according to the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ).
Agricultural price growth slowed slightly, but significant increases were seen in items like eggs (+39%), cattle (+31%), and milk (+20%). In contrast, potatoes and pig prices declined. Analysts warn that rising food producer prices—particularly dairy products—may lead to further increases in consumer food prices in the coming months.
Meanwhile, prices in the industrial sector fell mainly due to cheaper coke, oil products, electricity, and chemicals. Although industrial prices have dropped 3.2% since their peak in January 2023, they remain around 40% higher than pre-pandemic levels.
Economists agree that broad consumer price drops are unlikely, but further sharp increases—except in food—are also not expected.
