The Czech automotive industry will remain a driver of the economy in the coming years.
Record output, a 3.1% year-on-year increase in exports, and total revenues reaching nearly CZK 1.6 trillion – these are the key indicators characterizing the 2024 performance of the member companies of the Automotive Industry Association. These results once again confirm the high competitiveness of the Czech automotive sector, especially considering that the industry managed to grow despite a stagnating EU market, which remained almost one-fifth below its pre-COVID peak. Given the crucial importance of the automotive sector for the national economy, this is also positive news for the Czech Republic as a whole.
Despite numerous challenges, Czech car manufacturers increased production year-on-year by 3.9%, reaching a historic record with a total of 1,452,881 passenger cars produced. The total number of road vehicles manufactured last year rose by 3.8% year-on-year to 1,477,663 units. The number of completed electric vehicles fell by 16.3% to 151,407, representing 10.4% of total production.
Total revenues of companies associated in AutoSAP increased year-on-year by 2.6% to CZK 1,570.7 billion. In correlation with revenues, exports also grew, up by 3.1% year-on-year. It remains true that many suppliers in the automotive sector are among the largest Czech exporters overall. Germany continues to be the most important export partner with a stable 30% share. The United Kingdom ranked second, followed by France, and newly Poland, which climbed to fourth place among export destinations, ahead of Slovakia.
The number of employees in AutoSAP companies reached 140,874 at the end of last year and has remained stable over the long term.
