The average gross monthly salary in Czechia reached CZK 49,215 in 2025. Although wages continued to grow in real terms, high living costs, especially in Prague, remain a significant burden for many households.
The average gross monthly salary in Czechia reached CZK 49,215 in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. According to data cited by Expats.cz, wages increased in real terms for the second consecutive year after taking inflation into account.
However, wage growth does not automatically translate into higher living standards for all households. Around two-thirds of employees in Czechia earn less than the national average. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the average wage reached CZK 52,283, while the median wage stood at CZK 45,523.
The strongest wage growth was recorded in technical and professional occupations, where salaries increased by more than 11%. By contrast, slower growth of around 4% was reported in sectors such as mining and financial services.
High living costs, particularly housing and food prices, continue to put pressure on household budgets. In Prague, rents for smaller flats often range between CZK 20,000 and CZK 26,000 per month, representing a substantial share of net income.
Economists expect wages in Czechia to continue rising in 2026, although at a slower pace. Real wage growth is expected to reach around 3.7%. Housing affordability and the overall cost of living therefore remain among the key issues for the Czech economy and labour market.
