A new Czech mobile and modular counter-drone system, Murmus, has been developed in the Czech Republic and is set to make its first deliveries to countries in the Middle East this year. The system reflects the growing demand for advanced C-UAS solutions capable of detecting, tracking and physically neutralising reconnaissance and attack drones.
A comprehensive mobile and modular counter-drone system called Murmus has been developed in the Czech Republic. According to Czech News Agency ČTK, the system was created by Czechia Systems, part of the S-Tech Ventures group, and the company has already received orders from countries in the Middle East. The first sets are expected to be delivered to the region this year.
Murmus is designed to detect, classify, track and neutralise a wide spectrum of reconnaissance and attack drones, including Iranian-made Shahed-type loitering munitions used by Russia in Ukraine. According to the company, the system was developed based on experience from elite Ukrainian brigades, and parts of it have been tested directly on the front line.
The system consists of three off-road Torsus vehicles produced by Prague-based Pulsar Expo, which has production facilities in Slovakia and Ukraine. It integrates command capabilities, radar, operators and interceptor drones into a single operational unit. According to the company, Murmus can operate in difficult terrain and damaged urban environments and cover an area of up to 200 square kilometres.
For the Middle East, the system may be particularly relevant given the growing threat of drones, loitering munitions and swarm attacks against military sites, critical infrastructure and urban areas. For Czech defence and dual-use technology exporters, the project highlights the increasing international demand for practical counter-drone solutions tested in real combat conditions. It may also create opportunities for Czech companies offering related technologies, including sensors, radar systems, electronic components, communication systems, AI-based detection, command-and-control software, mobile platforms and protective solutions for critical infrastructure.
The case also underlines the potential of Czech-Israeli cooperation in defence innovation. Israel is one of the world’s most advanced markets for drone and counter-drone technologies, while Czech companies can offer engineering capabilities, specialised subsystems and cost-effective European production. Successful deliveries of Murmus to the Middle East could therefore strengthen the visibility of Czech defence technologies in the region and open further B2B opportunities with local integrators, security agencies and defence companies.
