Game Accelerator Aims to Build on the Success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance

New Czech game accelerator supports development teams, linking them with investors and mentoring — aiming to echo Kingdom Come’s success. The Czech gaming market is entering a new growth phase. In Prague, a specialized game accelerator has just started operations, with the explicit goal of building on the success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Over the coming weeks, the accelerator plans to introduce its first batch of projects to investors. Participating student teams will receive not just financial backing but also mentorship from industry professionals, legal support, and access to a network of experts. The program already selected five teams out of ten applicants, including projects like Arcane Isle Survival, W.A.R.D., Sweep to the Past, Recollect, and Head Heist. Accelerating creative talent A key factor in launching this accelerator was a collaboration with Čvut’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering, which offers a course in “computer games” where student teams work on full game prototypes combining programming and game/graphic design. Katarzyna Kouba Sanojca from the Prague Innovation Institute (a co-organizer) emphasizes that their model blends technical training with business planning, aiming to leave participants with a clear market strategy. The accelerator’s cycle runs from August to November, with plans to make it an annual initiative. Teams have expressed that mentorship is especially valuable — helping them refine gameplay, identify design weaknesses, and sharpen marketing strategy. Market context and challenges The Czech gaming industry had a turnover of about CZK 6.5 billion last year, with projections for double-digit growth in the coming period. The success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is already notable: within its first two weeks, it sold over 2 million copies, and sales have since exceeded 3 million. However, much of the profits were loaned to its parent company, highlighting the financial pressures even on successful studios. For the new enterprises in the accelerator, the path forward will include proving their concepts, navigating funding challenges, and positioning for export opportunities beyond domestic markets. Export perspective: This accelerator represents an opening for Czech game studios to scale from domestic success to global reach. By equipping teams with both creative and business skills, it helps reduce barriers to entry in international markets — especially in Israel and other tech-savvy regions. CzechTrade’s Tel Aviv office can support by connecting participating studios with local publishers, investors, and distribution channels in Israel. Participation in matchmaking events or B2B missions could help these studios find partners in markets with strong gaming demand.
