PBS Triples Profit and Expands into the U.S. Market

Czech aerospace manufacturer PBS Group reported record profit and is strengthening its presence in the U.S. through new production in Georgia.

Exceptional Growth in 2024

PBS Group, an engineering company based in Velká Bíteš, Czech Republic, reported outstanding financial results for 2024. Revenues from its proprietary products and services rose by 26.5 percent year-on-year, reaching approximately CZK 2 billion. Net profit after tax jumped to CZK 168.2 million—about three times higher than in the previous year.

This strong performance reflects a sharp increase in global demand for the company’s aerospace portfolio, including small jet engines, auxiliary power units (APUs), and environmental control systems used in both civil and defense aviation.

Expanding Footprint in the United States

To enhance its presence in North America, PBS has opened a new facility in Roswell, Georgia. The site will handle production, assembly, and testing of jet engines, serving both civilian and defense markets.

The new U.S. facility currently operates in pilot mode, with plans to scale production to thousands of units annually and eventually tens of thousands by 2026–2027. The initial investment totals around USD 20 million, with further expansion to follow—potentially reaching up to USD 90 million as operations mature.

PBS is also developing a local supplier network in the United States to strengthen its production autonomy and reduce reliance on overseas supply chains.

Strategic Cooperation and Innovation

PBS has entered into a collaboration with U.S. aerospace giant Pratt & Whitney to develop a new generation of auxiliary power units for both military and civilian aircraft. The cooperation is part of broader industrial partnerships linked to the Czech Air Force’s procurement of F-35 fighter jets.

The three-year joint R&D program aims to deliver smaller, lighter, and up to three times more powerful APU units than the current generation.

Outlook and Export Potential

PBS’s management expects to maintain its growth trajectory thanks to robust order volumes already secured for upcoming years. However, the company acknowledges ongoing challenges—such as rapid technological change, fluctuating demand in the aerospace sector, and the need to safeguard supply chains from geopolitical risks.

With its strong performance in 2024 and ambitious U.S. expansion, PBS is reinforcing its position as a competitive global player in aircraft propulsion and power systems.
