Czechia has gained its own artificial intelligence factory along with a new AI supercomputer

In Luxembourg, the results of the latest round of calls for European AI factories, also known as AI Factories, were announced. Within the framework of the Czech AI Factory (CZAI), as the Czech AI factory is called, a very powerful supercomputer for AI calculations will be acquired, and a package of services provided by the consortium's experts will be created.

The AI Factories calls were announced in three rounds by the joint European undertaking EuroHPC

Within the set framework, both the supercomputer and the package of services provided by the experts will serve small and medium-sized businesses, industry, as well as public and research sector institutions. The Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC CTU) at CTU in Prague is significantly involved in the project.

Six new AI Factories will join the 13 previously selected, creating a connected network of AI centers ready to support AI innovation across Europe. Each AI Factory will serve as a single point of contact, offering startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, industry, public organizations, and AI researchers comprehensive support in deploying AI tools, managing and processing datasets, access to computing resources optimized for AI, providing training and technical knowledge transfer, as well as support for new talent.

"Czech AI Factory will fundamentally change the way artificial intelligence is effectively developed and utilized in the Czech Republic. The project will not only provide state-of-the-art computing infrastructure but will also open up new opportunities for a wide range of entities across the economy and society, including an entirely new group of users, thanks to a broad array of AI services. We will develop these services together with other partners for a wide range of applications – from industrial production, energy, and healthcare to public administration and cybersecurity, as well as the mobility of the future", said Prof. Vladimír Mařík, scientific director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics at CTU in Prague (CIIRC CTU).
