Nvidia has included Onsemi among its key suppliers for the upcoming Vera Rubin platform, which is set to hit the market in the second half of this year as the successor to the Blackwell generation. The partnership confirms that Czechia, and indeed the whole of Europe, plays an important role in the supply chain for AI data centers.
Onsemi will manufacture power semiconductor electronics for Nvidia that are necessary for powering energy-intensive AI chips. These include 800V technologies and silicon carbide (SiC) solutions that enable more efficient power transfer and lower losses. These technologies have been under development for a long time in Rožnov, where Onsemi also plans to invest approximately CZK 44 billion in expanding SiC production.
The Czech branch of Onsemi has annual revenues of around seven billion crowns, and the planned investments could increase this by more than twenty billion. The key factor now will be the new government's decision on a state incentive exceeding ten billion crowns, which is intended to support the expansion of production in Czechia.
The participation of the Czech plant in such strategic production confirms that Europe and Czechia can be part of global technology supply chains for artificial intelligence – not only as an assembly workshop, but also as a supplier of key components.
Moreover, This shows that the AI technology ecosystem is much broader than just processors—it also includes power electronics, power supplies, temperature control, and other technologies that enable the deployment of powerful AI data centers around the world.
While production in Czechia and the Indian market are not directly linked through bilateral trade, they are increasingly connected through global AI and semiconductor value chains, where Czech manufacturing supports technologies deployed at scale in fast-growing markets such as India.
