Skoda has no immediate plans to enter the EV market, but it hopes to bring more international models to India

In the domestic passenger vehicle market, the Czech automaker wants to hold onto its 2 percent market share. Although there are now no plans for electric vehicles, Skoda is getting ready to launch EVs in the future. Additionally, the Skoda is updating its Kushaq and Slavia models and growing its Kylaq models.

Skoda has big plans for India!. Although currently Czech automake has no intention of introducing EVs in India, it intends to introduce more of its international nameplates into the Indian market in an effort to serve a wide range of consumers.

"The basic portfolio, which consists of domestically made cars, won't change for the upcoming year". Said in an intervie Skoda Auto India Brand Director Ashish Gupta. Moreover, he stated "We are also planning to get some more global, iconic cars into India next year to excite the market, as we did with Octavia this year."

In the Indian market, Skoda presently offers imported models like Octavia and Kodiaq as well as domestically made versions like Kylaq, Kushaq, and Slavia. Mr. Gupta, however, did not mention which other models are likely to  be imported to India next year.

With 61,607 units sold between January and October 2025, the Skoda is having its best year ever in India and hopes to maintain its 2 percent market share in the domestic passenger vehicle segment. Gupta pointed out that between November and December, the sales momentum brought forth by the GST adjustments is probably going to continue.

When question about Skoda's EV plans, Mr. Gupta responded "We do have a very large EV portfolio worldwide.  Moreover, in my opinion, there have been a lot of uncertainties in the market over the past year. Whether it's the FTA talks, the EV policy, or anything else, it's getting harder to have a solid plan."

"There might be a delay in how fast electrification takes place, which we have seen worldwide. But definitely, any manufacturer who is serious about this market cannot say that we will not go into EVs. Definitely, we are planning for EVs," he said without sharing details.
