Taiwanese battery system leader opens European base in Prague

Taiwanese company C-TECH United Corporation, a global leader in lithium-ion and lithium-polymer battery modules, is opening its first European representative office in Prague. It plans to start production in Czechia next year and is also considering building a European research and development center.

C-TECH United Corporation (hereinafter referred to as C-TECH) specializes in the design and manufacture of battery modules and complete battery systems (so-called packs), which contain individual cells as well as control and safety electronics and are ready for integration into devices. During its 29 years of existence, the company has become an established Tier-1 supplier. It supplies key components or systems directly to manufacturers who finalize their products. Its customers include leading global brands such as LG, HP, Dell, and Acer.

C-TECH's product portfolio includes modules for e-mobility, backup power systems (BPS), electric vehicle applications, 3C/IT devices, and energy storage systems (ESS). "In the Czech Republic, we plan to start production of battery systems for electric mobility and industrial energy storage systems for the entire European market by the end of next year. We are adjusting our strategy in line with the needs of our key clients in the EU. At the same time, we will provide service and other support to our clients from here," says Van Fan, CEO of C-TECH Czech, which will represent C-TECH United Corporation in Europe.

The choice of the Czech Republic as the most suitable European location is the result of a careful analysis of the investment environment in selected countries in the Central European region. One of the decisive factors was the support for electromobility and the battery industry, which are enshrined in the National Action Plan for Clean Mobility. "The Czech Republic is exceptional from both a strategic and logistical point of view. It offers not only a great location, but also the best price-performance ratio. From here, we can easily reach the German market, as well as the Balkans and, in the future, African countries. Our decision to settle in Czechia was also influenced by the presence of CzechInvest's foreign representation in Taiwan and the presentation of your country," says Van Fan.

Taiwanese companies are among the major foreign investors in Czechia. Companies such as Foxconn, Wistron, Inventec, Asus, and Pegatron are also among the largest foreign employers in our country. Cooperation between the Czech Republic and Taiwan has potential, particularly in the areas of semiconductors, electromobility, and high-tech applications, transfer of know-how, and opportunities to participate in new supply chains.

Taiwan plays a key role in the global economy. Local manufacturers control 90% of the global AI server market, and TSMC, for example, produces over 50% of the world's chips and more than 90% of the most powerful processors.  Briging this important player to the Czech Republic  is thanks to efforts of CzechInvest - Business and Investment Development Agency.
